Reduction at Source
It consists of reducing or eliminating waste generation through inventory management or modification of production processes.

Volume Reduction
It includes techniques that allow the separation of one type of waste from another. This can be done by:

  • Segregation: Separation of different waste streams generally at their source.

  • Concentration: Reduction of volume through physical treatment.

Recycling and Recovery

Recycling: It consists of reusing the waste in the same process that produced it, either directly or through prior treatment.

Recovery: It is based on using the generated waste in a different process from the one that produced it, and it can be introduced in the new process directly or through some prior treatment.

  • Treatment of effluents.

  • Sustainability Report, consolidating the information.

  • Update of the IIA.

  • Update of the Closure Plan.

Each part of this mining and metallurgical process developed in Gualcamayo requires properly calculated procedures, both from mining engineering as well as the care for the environment and the safety of its workers. That is why Minas Argentinas adjusted all its processes and certified the following quality standards:

  • ISO 14.001 Environmental Management,

  • ISO 45.001 Occupational Health and Safety

  • International Cyanide Management Code, protocol developed under the auspices of the United Nations for the Environment.
