Gualcamayo obtains approval of the Environmental Report that anticipates the new productive stage of the mine.
Minas Argentinas SA, operator of the Gualcamayo mine, obtained approval for the seventh update of its Environmental Impact Report. This is a very important milestone for the company because, on one hand, it ratifies all actions taken during the evaluated period and, fundamentally, because it initiates the process for permits for the new Deep Carbonates Project.
The seventh update of the Environmental Impact Report was presented and approved following the new regulations established by the Ministry of Mining Decree 7-2024, which means the entire process took 6 months of management, as required by the regulation. This approval also includes the fifth and sixth updates, which were presented in due time by Minas Argentinas to the regulatory authority.
The most significant aspect of this approval relates to the inclusion of tasks that will need to be performed for the Deep Carbonates Project (DCP). This undertaking, which is currently advancing in its engineering and technical and economic feasibility studies, will give productive life to Gualcamayo for at least another 20 years.
The original authorization for Gualcamayo to begin operations was granted through the approval of its Environmental Impact Statement, which occurred in 2007. As indicated by the regulations, the respective updates have been presented biannually, including the work performed and the projected plans for the next stage of the deposit.
In this seventh update, Minas Argentinas has already begun to include aspects related to the new mine and the new tasks that will need to be carried out for it.
